Ahead of the launch of the Tecno POVA 2 in the Philippines later this month, Tecno Mobile has dropped the prices of the Tecno Camon 16 6GB/128GB and Tecno Spark 6 4GB/128GB budget smartphones.

Customers can save as much as P991 (about $21 converted) on the Camon 16, while the Spark 6 is now more affordable by P491 ($10). Previously priced at P7,990 ($167), the Camon 16 is currently P6,999 ($146); the Spark 6 drops to P5,999 ($125) from P6,490 ($135). Needless to say, you might want to spend the extra for the Camon 16, which not only gets you more memory, but also sharper cameras on the front and back.

Both the Camon 16 and Spark 6 are equipped with 6.8-inch HD+ screens, 5,000mAh batteries, plus a gaming-focused MediaTek Helio G70 chipset. Sporting a modern look, they have punch-hole displays as well.

So, really, you can’t go wrong with either device if you’re after decent performance, a big screen to go along with a big battery, and an overall great bang for your buck. They just make a lot of sense for a price-sensitive market.

As for the cameras, the Tecno Camon 16 sports a 48-megapixel main sensor, whereas the Tecno Spark 6 packs a 16-megapixel shooter with quad flash. Their front-facing cameras use 13- and 8-megapixel sensors, respectively.
