The debut of the successors to the Reno 5 series phones is happening this May, if rumors are to be believed.

(Update, May 28: The OPPO Reno 6 series is now official, with the Pro Plus model getting the Find X3 Pro’s Snapdragon 870 chip and Sony IMX766 sensor! Prices and specs here.)

(Update, May 19: The OPPO Reno 6 series gets a May 27 launch date! See what to expect here.)

The OPPO Reno 6 lineup is expected to be launched first in China as early as the 22nd, during OPPO’s gala event on a Chinese TV network. But today, we may just have seen pictures of actual units of the base model and the Pro version.

The photos below have surfaced on Chinese social media platform Weibo. And if they are indeed live images of the OPPO Reno 6 and OPPO Reno 6 Pro, then expect the regular variant to look a bit like the Apple iPhone 12 from the sides. It is flat, has antenna bands, and seems to get a metallic frame. The front, on the other hand, has a punch-hole cutout on the upper-left side of the screen.

OPPO Reno 6, is that you?

Word has it that the Reno 6 will be launched as the first MediaTek Dimensity 900 smartphone. Yes, that 5G chip — the one that was announced just five days ago and was spotted to have achieved a 480,000 Antutu benchmark score.

Is this new 6nm processor really going to commercially debut on the OPPO Reno 6?

As for the Pro model, expect it to use a glossy back and feature a rectangular camera module with four sensors at the upper-left corner. The site of China certification body TENAA shows that the Reno 6 Pro packs a 64-megapixel quad camera, a 32-megapixel selfie shooter, a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, and a 4,500mAh battery with 65-watt fast charging. It’s supposed to come with up to 12GB of RAM and a maximum of 256GB of storage. And it’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC.

Besides the Reno 6 and Reno 6, the OPPO Reno 6 Pro Plus is believed to go official this month, too.
