There are new additions to Huawei‘s Nova family of stylish smartphones.

The Huawei Nova 9 and Huawei Nova 9 Pro have been launched in China. And they’re being marketed as great camera phones, with the Pro model, in particular, being promoted as perfect for vlogging. Not that we doubt the claim. After all, the camera has always been one of the company’s strong suits.

The two feature a 50-megapixel rear camera setup paired with 8-megapixel, 2-megapixel, and 2-megapixel lenses for ultra-wide, macro, and bokeh shots. Both have a 32-megapixel selfie sensor inside punch-hole cutouts, too, but the Nova 9 Pro gets another 32-megapixel front-facing camera as well.

Based on HarmonyOS 2.0, the latest members of the series boast a 120Hz curved OLED screen, though the bigger, more premium phone’s touch-sampling rate goes up to 300Hz, which should result in a more responsive display.

Charging should likewise be super fast, as the Huawei Nova 9’s 4,300mAh battery and Huawei Nova 9 Pro’s 4,000mAh cell support 66-watt and 100-watt SuperCharge technology, respectively. Unfortunately, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip they use has access to 4G — not 5G — networks only for reasons we all know.
