The Philippines was not part of the initial list of countries where Apple’s 2021 iPad mini became available on September 24. A bummer, we know. But we have good news for you: You can finally buy the tablet starting today, October 6.

Yes, the status of the iPad mini on the Apple Philippines site has changed from “check back later for availability” to “buy.” In case you forgot, the device’s different versions have these prices:

  • iPad mini Wi-Fi
    • 64GB: P29,990 (around $589 converted)
    • 256GB: P38,990 ($765)
  • iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular
    • 64GB: P38,990 ($765)
    • 256GB: P47,990 ($942)

Take note that those are the prices on the Apple online store itself, but the amount may be different elsewhere — and may even vary depending on which Philippine-based authorized reseller you are going to get your unit.

This iPad mini is the first refresh since March 18, 2019. It now has flat edges and rounded corners, just like its siblings, the current iPad Air and iPad Pro. It boasts a bigger, 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2,266 x 1,488 resolution, 500 nits of peak brightness, and support for the second-generation Apple Pencil.

Powering the tablet is the company’s new 5nm A15 Bionic chip that has a five-core GPU and offers 5G data on the Wi-Fi + Cellular variants. The physical home button with Touch ID sensor is gone. There’s a 12-megapixel camera with True Tone flash and a wider f/1.8 aperture lens. The selfie shooter is also 12 megapixels, but sits behind an ultra-wide-angle lens.

Apple claims that the 2021 iPad mini can last up to 10 hours while surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching a video. It adopts the USB-C standard and boots iOS 15 out of the box.
