Android Q-based EMUI 10.0 will be launched at the Huawei Developer Conference, which is happening from August 9 to 11 in Dongguan, China. Will we see Hongmeng OS at the event as well?
According to Chinese state-run publication Global Times, Huawei‘s alternative operating system will be announced at HDC 2019, too. This could be possible considering that the Honor Vision TV’s unveiling is scheduled for early August. Executives have already been quoted as saying that the software will debut on the Huawei sub-brand’s line of smart televisions.

Reportedly launching as Ark OS in other markets, Hongmeng has been developed mainly for IoT [internet of things] devices and may or may not replace Android. Word is that just like Google’s Fuchsia experimental OS, it will be compatible with different form factors and can better accommodate artificial intelligence.

Global Times also claims that a smartphone running Hongmeng will be launched alongside the Huawei Mate 30 series later this year. The price is pegged at around ¥2,000, or about P14,948 in Philippine pesos and $288 in U.S. dollars.
