There are many Huawei smartphones to look forward to in the Philippines this month of April. There’s the groundbreaking Huawei P20 and P20 Pro — the top two smartphones with the best cameras on DxOMark — and the Huawei P20 Lite.

[Update, May 19, 2018: In case you missed our Y6 story on April 17, the smartphone is priced at P5,990 or around $115. Earlier today, we posted this: Huawei Y6 2018 vs Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) vs OPPO A71 (2018).]

Today, the company has launched the Huawei Y6 2018, which it says has been designed with high performance and reliable quality in mind, and is made especially for young consumers.

While its price has not been announced yet, it will most likely retail under P10,000 (roughly $192), probably between P7,000 ($135) and P8,000 ($154). Definitely cheaper than the recently launched Huawei Nova 2 Lite, which is selling for P9,990 ($192). We believe that the smartphone will slug it out with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro and the OPPO A71 (2018) in the budget category.

Available in black and blue, the Huawei Y6 2018 brings the on-trend tall display to the wallet-friendly set of devices. Its screen measures 5.7 inches and has an HD+ resolution.

On the rear is a 13-megapixel camera. For selfies, there’s a 5-megapixel shooter with selfie-toning flash to automatically detect the lighting on your face and thus adjust the level of brightness accordingly.

It’s also meant to give a rich audio experience, care of what the company claims are powerful speakers and features such as Karaoke Mode and Group Music.

We’re already putting the Huawei Y6 2018 through its paces, so do wait for our review.
