What many believe to be the first truly bezel-less smartphone is coming sooner than you think. The Lenovo Z5 will debut at an event in Beijing, China, on June 5.

No less than the company and its vice president and former ZUK CEO Chang Cheng has confirmed the news on micro-blogging platform Weibo. Cheng also said the Z5 would be the successor to the ZUK series, which includes the likes of the ZUK Z1. You may recall that back in 2015, the Z1 was sold at retail in the Philippines for P15,299 (around $291), an incredibly low price for a phone flaunting top-shelf specs at the time.

The Lenovo Z5 was first teased earlier this month and will be marketed as a rival to the Vivo NEX, the retail version of the Vivo APEX concept phone. It is tipped to boast a jaw-dropping 98 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Z5, on the other hand, is expected to sport an all-screen design that will feature at least 95 percent screen on the front. Word is the NEX could arrive as early as June 12.

The other specs of the Z5 remain a mystery, though Lenovo did tease that the phone’s battery can last up to a staggering 45 days on standby mode and offer 30 minutes talk time at 0 percent charge. Another teaser suggested the LenovoZ5 might be the first device to carry 4TB of internal storage. Lenovo also noted that it had already racked up four technological breakthroughs and 18 patents for the handset.

All of which is to say that we could be in for something special next week.
