It lines up with launches in other parts of the world with the Reno 2 series launching in Malaysia on October 15 and the UK on October 16.
The line is known for its motorized selfie camera (the Reno 2’s placed in a shark-fin-like wedge at the top of the phone and the Reno 2F’s, in a regular pop-up mechanism); full-screen design; and quad cameras on the back.
The Reno 2 — which was launched in India with a price tag of ₹36,990, or roughly P26,834 or $520 — comes with a 48-megapixel f/1.7 primary camera, ultra-steady video recording, and a dedicated night mode for the camera.
OPPO pairs the main shooter with a 13-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle cam, and a 2-megapixel mono lens for portrait mode. The rising front-camera setup houses a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
The high-end OPPO Reno 2 comes with a bevy of shooting modes, including Ultra Dark Mode (using the processor’s NPU or neural processing unit), Ultra Macro Mode, Ultra Steady Video (via the ultra-wide-angle camera), plus the ability to add bokeh while shooting video for both front and rear cameras.
It comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 resolution, 20:9 ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Underneath the screen, there is an optical fingerprint scanner.
The Reno 2 runs on OPPO’s proprietary ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage. It comes equipped with a 4,000mAh battery with 20-watt VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 support.
As for the OPPO Reno 2F, it’s slightly more affordable at ₹25,990 (P18,852 or $365) in India. It features a quad-camera setup on the back, which consists of a 48-megapixel f/1.7 main shooter, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel mono lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait mode.
The 16-megapixel selfie camera is a pop-up, too, and the 6.5-inch FHD+ notch-less AMOLED display has a fingerprint reader embedded in it.
The OPPO Reno 2F runs on Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.1, a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage. It also comes with a 4,000mAh battery with support for 20-watt fast charging.
Besides the Reno 2 and Reno 2F, the OPPO Enco Q1 wireless noise-cancelling headphones will be introduced at the October 17 event, too.
We have all three products that will go official soon, so do watch for our reviews. Till then.
