It’s official: The next OnePlus smartphone is called the OnePlus Nord, and it could potentially get back the glory the brand once had.

Not that the company is irrelevant. Far from it. But its devices used to be called “flagship killers.” And this handset is going to come from a new affordable lineup. Promising, is what we think.

As OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said, “‘Never Settle’ has always been at the core of OnePlus. For more than six years, that has meant working hard to always deliver the best experience for flagship smartphone users. However, as we’ve grown together with our community, we know that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs, and for a more accessible price.”

The OnePlus Nord will be launched in Europe and India first, but will be sold in North America at some point. And 100 units will be up for preorder — most likely blind — tomorrow, July 1

There are only a few confirmed details about the OnePlus Nord. That it will be launched in Europe and India first. That it will be sold in North America at some point. (Where’s the rest of Asia, including the Philippines, of course? We’d like to think it will reach our shores, too.) That 100 units will be up for preorder — most likely blind — tomorrow, July 1.

But if we are to believe previous rumors, the OnePlus Nord is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, the same 5G chip used by the Realme X50 and Xiaomi Redmi K30. It’s supposed to have the following specs: 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 6.55-inch OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 48-megapixel main camera, 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a single selfie shooter.

However, another leak claims the smartphone has a 64-megapixel primary camera and 32-megapixel and 8-megapixel front-facing sensors. Let’s just look forward to July 10, when the OnePlus Nord is expected to launch in India.
