The Vivo Z5x, the brand’s first smartphone with a hole-punch display, is here. The phone was made official earlier in China where it’s already available for reservation online.

It’s unclear at this point if it will launch in the Philippines, or in other markets outside of its native China, though it would be a shame not to see it get an international release given all its features and price.

The Vivo Z5x is available in multiple memory configurations. The base model, which costs ¥1,398 (about $203 or P10,562), comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/128GB versions are priced at ¥1,498 ($217 or P11,317), ¥1,698 ($246 or P12,828), and ¥1,998 ($290 or P15,094), respectively.

The phone comes in three color options — Aurora, Extreme Night Black, and Phantom Black. It is available through Vivo’s own online store, as well JD.com, Suning.com, Tmall.com, and other retail partners. Shipping begins June 1.

Talking about the display, the LCD touchscreen measures 6.53 inches and has small bezels on the sides and top. The hole-punch design allows a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 lens to exist on the front without a notch, waterdrop design, or pop-up selfie module similar to that of the Vivo V15 and V15 Pro.

Besides the new front assembly, the other big selling point is a massive 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to last for days and supports fast charging via an 18-watt standard.

On paper, the Vivo Z5x offers great value for its price

The back of the handset is slightly less innovative but still exciting nonetheless, as it carries a vertical triple-camera set and fingerprint reader for faster unlocking. The rear setup includes a 16-megapixel, f/1.78 primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide option, and a depth camera for bokeh shots.

The Vivo Z5x is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, the same chipset inside the likes of the Realme 3 Pro and OPPO R17 Pro. The Snapdragon 710 features one of the best one-two combinations in its segment, offering fast day-to-day performance and graphics and efficient power management, even when gaming.
