Barely a week ago, we at Revü spotted the Galaxy M series phone with a huge battery on the site of Samsung Philippines, suggesting that the device will be released here. Now, that model is finally official and already up for preorder in Germany.

Scheduled to be shipped starting from September 11, the Samsung Galaxy M51 is priced at €360 in the Western European country. That’s roughly P20,725 or $429, but you know how more expensive consumer-electronic goods are in Europe, so it will probably cost around P18,000 (approximately $372) in the Philippines, assuming the same 6GB/128GB version will be rolled out locally. Let’s see.

One of the highlights here is the 7,000mAh battery, of course. It’s the largest the Korean technology giant has ever placed in a smartphone. And it shouldn’t take too long to charge it — think about two hours — because of its support for 25 watts of charging.

Typical of Samsung, it didn’t specify the octa-core chip used to power the Galaxy M51. Previous rumors claimed it’s either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 or 730G. Given the price, it could be the former, the same one that’s on the Samsung Galaxy A71.

The 6.67-inch Super AMOLED screen has a punch hole at the top center, where a 32-megapixel selfie camera is housed. There are four sensors on the back, with the main having 64 megapixels and f/1.8 aperture. The fingerprint sensor is on the side. And it’s running One UI 2.0 based on Android 10.

We wonder when the Samsung Galaxy M51 will become available in the Philippines. Our guess is between mid-September and early-October. Will it be an online-exclusive, too, as with many of its M series handsets? What we’re sure of is that all two color variants — black and white — will be sold in the country, as the two each have a local support page already.
