And then there are three. The Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 have joined the Motorola Edge X30 as two of the devices powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chip.

(Update, March 15: The Xiaomi 12 series is now official on the global market!)

(Update, March 8: The Xiaomi 12 series finally gets a global launch date!)

Both have been launched alongside another member of the lineup, the Xiaomi 12X, and MIUI 13 in China — exactly a year after the Xiaomi Mi 11 was announced as the world’s first Snapdragon 888 phone. There’s no word yet on when the global availability will be, much more the Philippine release. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long. Recall that the Mi 11 got an international launch more than a month after it debuted in China, on February 8 specifically.

So how much do all the new 5G smartphones cost? Check out the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12, and Xiaomi 12X prices below:

  • Xiaomi 12 Pro
    • 8GB/128GB: ¥4,699 (roughly P37,314 or $738)
    • 8GB/256GB: ¥4,999 (P39,694 or $785)
    • 12GB/256GB: ¥5,399 (P42,869 or $848)
  • Xiaomi 12
    • 8GB/128GB: ¥3,699 (P29,379 or $581)
    • 8GB/256GB: ¥3,999 (P31,762 or $628)
    • 12GB/256GB: ¥4,399 (P34,939 or $691)
  • Xiaomi 12X
    • 8GB/128GB: ¥3,199 (P25,414 or $502)

    • 12GB/256GB: ¥3,799 (P30,181 or $597)

Xiaomi CEO and cofounder Lei Jun admitted that they’re inspired by Apple and now set their sights on surpassing the American tech giant. You can see Apple’s influence here, with Xiaomi offering different sizes of its flagships, so users will be able to choose the version they’re comfortable with.

The regular variant measures just 6.28 inches diagonally. Call it a compact Xiaomi 12 Pro, which, by the way, is a 6.73-incher. The two share a lot of specs, anyway. It’s just that the most premium in the lineup features an LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display, meaning the refresh rate can go from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on what you’re doing; a bigger battery at 4,600mAh (versus 4,500mAh); faster wired charging at 120 watts (versus 67 watts); and a better set of cameras, boasting a trio of 50-megapixel cameras instead of just one 50-megapixel sensor.

As for the Xiaomi 12X, the smartphone bumps down to an older-yet-still-capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G chipset and lacks support for wireless and reverse wireless charging. But everything else in its specs sheet? You’re looking at the same specifications as the Xiaomi 12’s.

The debut of this series is a fitting end to a fruitful 2021 for Xiaomi. And we can’t wait for it to go official in the Philippines.
