Recall that the smartphone made its first appearance in China last April alongside the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G and Nova 7 Pro 5G.

The Nova 7 launched in China with a ¥2,999 starting price for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Directly converted, this translates to roughly P21,000 or $428. Previous reports indicated that the Nova 7 5G will be priced at P23,990 ($488) in the Philippines and the unit sold here will carry 256GB storage.

There’s no word yet on the local release of the Huawei Nova 7 Pro. In any case, the Nova 7 5G shares the stage with its Pro sibling as the first device from the company with the latest HiSilicon Kirin 985 chipset under the hood.

The Kirin 985 shares some similarities with the Kirin 820 in the Nova 7 SE, including a CPU architecture with one Cortex-A76 prime core and three big (also Cortex-A76) and four small (Cortex-A55) cores. It is integrated with Mali-G77 graphics with Kirin Gaming+ 2.0 technology for faster graphics performance.

Huawei says the Kirin 985 can get a theoretical maximum download speed of 1.2Gbps and upload of 173Mbps. It also features 5G anti-jamming, 5G low-latency, 5G energy-efficient, and 5G high-speed performance features.

As for the other specs, the Huawei Nova 7 5G has a 6.53-inch AMOLED screen with a punch hole for the 32-megapixel selfie camera. It also features four cameras at the back with a 64-megapixel main sensor and a telephoto lens capable of up to 20x zoom. The battery is rated at 4,000mAh and supports 40-watt fast charging over a USB-C interface.
