The company announced the launch date of its “entry-level king” on its official Facebook page. You might recall that the phone debuted in Malaysia earlier this month in time for Lazada’s 7.7 Mid-Year Super Sale, where it sold for as low as RM319, or roughly P3,696 or $75 converted. Its suggested retail price is RM359 (P4,162 or $84).

Based on the link included in Xiaomi’s social media post, the Redmi 9A will be priced at P4,690 ($95) in the Philippines and will arrive in Peacock Green, Twilight Blue, and Midnight Grey colors.

Alternatively, if you can’t wait for the local launch, you can buy it now from Xaiomi’s global store on Lazada for P5,690 ($115). We don’t know why there’s a considerable difference in price between the two listings, considering both shops are offering the same 2GB/32GB memory configuration. Just for reference, last year’s Redmi 8A with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage officially launched in the country for P5,490 ($111).

The Redmi 9A sports a 6.53-inch waterdrop HD+ LCD screen, which should be good enough for social media, video playback, and web browsing. The battery inside is huge, with its 5,000mAh capacity likely leading to two days of battery life on a single charge.

There’s a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel option in front for selfies. As expected, it runs Xiaomi’s own Android 10-based MIUI overlay out of the box.

There is no word if the Redmi 9C will debut alongside its cheaper stablemate. The Redmi 9C is one of the first devices introduced with the new MediaTek Helio G35 chip inside. The G35 is also found in the Realme C11, which first hit the Malaysian market as well.
