The ongoing preselling of the P7,499 (around $155) Vivo Y20i in the Philippines is a success, with more than 30,000 units already preordered in just three days. But the top smartphone vendor in the country is not about to rest on its laurels.

(Update, October 6: We have the Philippine launch date!)

The company is busy gearing up for the local launch of the Vivo 20 series, as revealed in a video it premiered on YouTube earlier today, September 29.

Vivo V20 series Philippine launch teaser

Vivo Philippines hasn’t announced the launch date yet nor has it specified which models in the lineup it is releasing here. However, the clip does show the only 5G-ready unit in the V20 family — the Vivo V20 Pro — so that’s pretty much in the bag.

The Vivo V20 Pro 5G is the global version of the Vivo S7, which is being endorsed by Korean pop group Blackpink’s Lisa Manoban in China. It uses a a 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip; a 44-megapixel eye auto-focus selfie camera, which should help you take more detailed self-portraits; and a 64-megapixel triple AI camera on the back. In Thailand, the lone 8GB/128GB model is priced at ฿14,999 (P23,158 or $478).

The Vivo V20, on the other hand, gets many of the Pro’s features. It’s just that this device is powered by a Snapdragon 720G processor and does not have that extra front-facing ultra-wide sensor. In Indonesia, the 8GB/128GB V20 is retailing at Rp4,999,000 (P16,225 or $336).

While the V20 Pro 5G and V20 look alike from the back, the Vivo V20 SE is quite similar to the X50

The Vivo V20 SE, meanwhile, is a Snapdragon 665 smartphone that boasts a 32-megapixel selfie shooter, a 48-megapixel triple AI camera, a 6.44-inch AMOLED screen, and support for 33 watts of fast charging. It’s the most affordable in the series, selling for RM1,199 (around P13,977 or $288) in Malaysia.

Which of the non-5G phones is Vivo bringing here? Or is it going to make all three handsets available in the Philippines? There’s a listing for a V20 on the company’s site now, but the page is blank for now; we don’t want to assume it’s the regular variant just yet — even though the image shows it’s that indeed.
