If you’re wondering why the Vivo V20 Pro 5G looks familiar, it’s because it was first introduced in China as the Vivo S7 5G with Korean pop group Blackpink’s Lisa Manoban as its endorser there. Here in the Philippines, it’s being endorsed by American alternative rock band LANY.

The most premium member of the V20 family arrives as the slimmest 5G phone in the Philippines, coming in at just 7.38mm thin. We can attest to how great it feels in the hand. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves; we have yet to publish our review, which we’ll do in the next few minutes, don’t worry. (Update: And our review of the Vivo V20 Pro 5G is up!)

The Vivo V20 Pro 5G’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. If you have extra cash, just get this for future-proofing purposes. Philippine telecommunications companies Globe Telecom and Smart Communications have already started rolling out their respective 5G networks.

‘Be the focus’

Of course, how can we forget the smartphone’s 44-megapixel eye auto-focus dual selfie camera, which is where the lineup’s tagline, “Be the Focus,” comes from? Mainly offered by flagships, the feature should help you take more detailed selfies — whether stills or moving, whether near or far.

The Pro model also features a 64-megapixel main shooter on the back, assisted by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor; a 6.44-inch AMOLED screen with an under-display fingerprint sensor; a 4,000mAh battery with 33 watts of fast wired charging, and Android 10-based Funtouch OS 11. It is available in Midnight Jazz, Moonlight Sonata, and — our favorite, tadah — Sunset Melody colors.

The Vivo V20, on the other hand, looks similar to its Pro sibling. Most of the specs are the same as well — except that the regular variant is powered by a Snapdragon 720G chipset, only has one selfie camera, and lacks the Moonlight Sonata color option.

The most affordable member of the family is also the version that looks different from the others. Yes, the Vivo V20 SE has the same screen, same memory configuration, and same Android OS version as the more expensive models. But inside is a Snapdragon 665 processor and a 4,100mAh battery with support for 33 watts of fast charging, on the back is a 48-megapixel triple camera, and on the front is a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. (Update: Our review of the Vivo V20 SE is finally up!)

Whatever your budget is, there’s a Vivo V20 series smartphone for you.
