Some smartphone manufacturers can’t be trusted to update the software of their products. It is a big investment to do so, after all. But some deserve a medal for keeping their users’ needs in mind. Huawei? It belongs to the latter.

Today, we’re getting reports that Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 has started hitting the international variant of the Huawei P10. The device was launched globally in February 2017 and in the Philippines in April that year.

The latest Android version on an almost-two-year-old phone. Imagine that. Meanwhile, top-tier handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, which were also announced at about the same time in 2017, are still on Android Oreo. Even the Note 8 is in the same boat as the S8 series models.

Take note, however, that the firmware rolling out to global Huawei P10 units does not include GPU Turbo 2.0, as seen in the change log below. In case you didn’t know, the feature is supposed to bring higher frame rates and reduced input latency to a wider selection of games, which now includes NBA 2K18, Rules of Survival, Arena of Valor, and Vainglory.
