Sony today announced two new smartphones under its Xperia smartphone line, with the Sony Xperia 1 IV leading the way as the Japanese manufacturer’s latest flagship offering. The midrange Sony Xperia 10 IV also made its global debut, bringing some notable changes under the hood compared with the third-generation model.

Facing closure? Sony Mobile workforce may be cut by 50% by 2020

Another once-great phone brand is virtually staring at extinction if it doesn’t shape up soon. Following reports of Sony chairman Hirai Kazua retiring and the company’s mobile division restructuring and being absorbed by its TV, audio, and camera businesses, a new report from Japan claims that Sony’s smartphone workforce will be reduced by half by March next year.
